SUMMARY:MG100 Cavalcade
DESCRIPTION:MGCC are organising this event as part of the 100 years celebration which will comprise a run from John O’Groats to Lands End, 30th April -25th May. The goal is to link all regions of the UK and all parts of MGCC in celebration of MG100.\nThere will be series of individual Centre runs joined together by linking sections with handover points\ngenerally envisaged to be at MG Motor UK dealerships, passing the MG100 baton one Centre to the next throughout the country. This will break the overall route from John O’Groats to Lands’ End down into manageable chunks.\nMGCC Lincolnshire will be responsible for two sections, Hull to Lincoln and Lincoln to Chesterfield.\nThe aim will be to,\n\nInvolve as many members as possible – from all age groups and eras of MG, from Vintage/MMM to Young Members.\nThere will be an overall route, which takes in some of the key venues to the overall MG story and iconic motoring and motorsport locations throughout mainland UK.\nTo attract national and local PR – via TV, radio and on-line and print media.\nThe event will be carbon off-set.\nInvolve MG Motor UK and the Dealership Network in the event.\n\nLincolnshire Route\nMG Cavalcade routes 10th & 11th May 2024 (1) ( https://mgcclincolnshire.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/MG-Cavalcade-routes-10th-11th-May-2024-1.docx )\nThe Lincolnshire Centre Legs arrangement are as follows:\nMeet on the Friday, 10th May at The Old Tile Works, Barton-upon- Humber, DN18 5RF at 4.00pm. Join the cavalcade and drive to N T Shaw at Louth for an evening reception. Leader – Ian Calaby.\nMeet on the 11th May at The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, East Kirkby at 0900am for a photo shoot with “Just Jane”, the historic Lancaster Bomber. Leave at 1000am for a scenic drive to Hall’s Garage, Morton. \nAt 12.45 leave Hall’s Garage for a scenic drive to W H Brand (MG Dealers) , Whaplode Drove  Leave at 3.30pm for a drive to Wansford to hand over to the next Centre. \nYou may join us for the whole route, part of the route or just at one of the stopping points mentioned above. There is no charge for participating in this historic event in Lincolnshire but we hope that you will be generous by supporting one or both of the charities list above. However, I do need to know who is participating in the event and what your intentions are so that we can inform the MG dealers of expected numbers. So, please email me at davidstonehouse1@btinternet.com to tell me how you want to participate. As this event is covered by a MotorsportUK Touring Assembly Certificate of Exemption you will need to sign on at one of the meeting points to comply with the insurance requirements. \n*Should you plan to be one of the ‘intrepid’ end-to-enders who in celebration of 100 years of MG will enjoy the entire event, then please get in touch with Rob Constant on rob@littleabingdon.co.uk to express interest. \nSimilarly, should you wish to do more than just the one local Centre leg, then again please contact Rob so we are aware of your multiple entry intentions. The success of this venture depends greatly on the communication between members, Centre organisers, the Cavalcade organising team and the MG Car Club. Don’t delay – consider your plans now!\nWhere do the origins of this exciting event come from?\nThe concept originates with Geoff Mansfield who undertook the full Jogle in his 1931 MG M type Sportsman Coupe in his 80th year with a 90-year-old motorcar! A 1,000 mile adventure undertaken during 2021 for both the experience and to fund-raise for charity…\n\nWhere’s Cecil?\nThe handover points will facilitate the passing of a gloss-sprayed card Cecil Kimber (the ‘MG 100 baton’!) between Centre officials, thereby allowing for the individual Centre’s scenic run to start and conclude where the Centre so desires, taking in such picturesque routes and places of interest as they wish to include.\n\n \n
