Also, New Years Day run, we look forward to meeting you at the Abbey Lodge before a leisurely drive to a mystery venue that is central for everyone’s homeward journey afterwards.

To break up the boredom between Christmas and New Year have a scroll through our planned events for 2026 and see if anything is of interest to you.

The events have been added to our calendar provisionally and since we set up the calendar we have already added the Classic Car show at Lincolnshire showground to the list of exciting events within our Centre.

All events will have entry forms etc added at a later date.

The next autotest is scheduled to be at Strubby Airfield, near Alford on
a tarmac surface on Sunday 12th October 2025 starting at 1100am. Please
contact Ian Mackenzie or myself if you want to enter that event and your
entry monies will carry forward to October. If you wish to have your
monies returned just once again contact Ian and he will arrange a
refund.

A scheduled photoshoot at Cadwell Park race Circuit had to be abandoned as lots of heavy trucks were arriving for a race meeting on the Saturday, However, 14 members attended a dinner celebration at the Hundleby Inn before an overnight stopover.

Saturday dawned with a photoshoot at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage centre, East Kirkby with their Lancaster Bomber “Just Jane” and yet another 18/80 saloon belonging to John Rogers. The cavalcade then set off for Hall’s Garage, Morton where Steve Hall and the staff put on a display of MGs and had a golden balloon made with the MG 100 logo. The cavalcade then departed for W H Brand at Whaplode Drove, near Spalding where other MGs had gathered including Dave Kempton’s J3 Midget and Rob Taylor’s WA.

Geoff & Linda Mansfield and a few others then retired for a dinner at the Paper Mills pub, Wansford where “Cecil” was returned to Geoff’s care to continue his journey to the north-west Centre.

The two days of Lincolnshire legs were blessed with wall to wall sunshine, good spirits and lots of laughter. The ‘marque of friendship’ being evident in abundance!

So it was that 7 teams met at The Wishing Well, Dyke to plot their route for the Navigational Scatter Rally.

They had to plot 21 grid references and visit 16 of them covering the shortest route.

Four teams correctly answered the clues so it was down to the team travelling the shortest distance. Both Sue and Chris Hall in their MGA and William and Alex Stock in their MG3 covered 61 miles so were declared joint winners with Sue Mackenzie and Malcolm Clark in Sue’s V8 coming in third place.

It was Alex Stock’s first Scatter Rally so well done and he has offered to organise next years event with help from his dad.

My thanks to Bill Sharp for assisting me on the day and making it a very enjoyable event.

Sunday 24^th April  was National Drive your Classic Car Day. The MGCC (Lincolnshire Centre) organised a visit to the Walled Garden, Baumber with drive ins from Boston, Caistor, Lincoln and Dyke so that participants could enjoy a drive through the Lincolnshire Countryside in glorious sunshine and then meet together for a lunch. Thirty eight cars were booked in with a variety from MGs including TC, TFs, MGA, ZB Magnette, MGBs, MGC, MGB V8s, MGFs and modern TFs. Among the non-MGs that joined us included a Ford Zephyr, a Mustang and a modern Honda. Also present at the venue were the Austin 7 club which had about 10 cars for us to enjoy.

Participants were invited to undertake a walking Treasure Hunt which was won by Lynn Wright and David Stearn. Then followed a Pride of Ownership competition where the results were as follows

4^th Robert Taylor MGA

5^th Bill Sharp MG TC

A very enjoyable day in the gardens and as a result of everyone’s participation the Car Club was able to donate a sizeable amount to the Walled Garden so that they could continue to provide  such a wonderful attraction.
