Also, New Years Day run, we look forward to meeting you at the Abbey Lodge before a leisurely drive to a mystery venue that is central for everyone’s homeward journey afterwards.

To break up the boredom between Christmas and New Year have a scroll through our planned events for 2026 and see if anything is of interest to you.

The events have been added to our calendar provisionally and since we set up the calendar we have already added the Classic Car show at Lincolnshire showground to the list of exciting events within our Centre.

All events will have entry forms etc added at a later date.

Jubilee Trophy Scatter Rally 2nd October 2022

What a great day it was for a drive out in the MG.

So it was that 7 teams met at The Wishing Well, Dyke to plot their route for the Navigational Scatter Rally.

They had to plot 21 grid references and visit 16 of them covering the shortest route.

Four teams correctly answered the clues so it was down to the team travelling the shortest distance. Both Sue and Chris Hall in their MGA and William and Alex Stock in their MG3 covered 61 miles so were declared joint winners with Sue Mackenzie and Malcolm Clark in Sue’s V8 coming in third place.

It was Alex Stock’s first Scatter Rally so well done and he has offered to organise next years event with help from his dad.

My thanks to Bill Sharp for assisting me on the day and making it a very enjoyable event.

Navigational Scatter Rallies

Scatter rallies are a wonderful way to have a few hours of competitive entertainment.

Each entry requires a driver a navigator and a car. Also required is an ordinance survey map (about £3 from eBay) a pencil, ruler, rubber and for most of us older generation a magnifying glass is a good optional extra.

Each team a given around 20 to 25 plots to find on the map and they must then choose a selection of around 15 to 20 to visit in as short a route as possible. At each plot on the route the team needs to solve a small clue and record the answer.

The winners are the team that get the most clues correct in the shortest mileage recorded.
